Formerly a top fashion model who was 5'10'' in height, Carey was popular with high-end American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year back in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was educated all over the planet as a consequence of her father's career. Modeling began part time during her time at college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux, before returning in New York in order to pursue the modeling profession. She appeared on Vogue and Glamour cover. She studied full-time at New York University, obtaining her major in Literature in between assignments as a model. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her acting debut came by playing a minor part in the film 'Club Paradise which aired in 1986 alongside Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water river rafting.
